Pewter is an alloy, traditionally of anywhere between three and nine parts tin,
and one part lead. Modern pewter mixes the tin with copper,
antimony and/or bismuth, as opposed to lead.

Sterling silver is at least 92.5% silver and up to 7.5% other metals, usually copper, and is stamped with either the word "Sterling" or ".925" or the Lion Passant mark.

Fine silver (99.99% pure) is generally too soft for producing large functional objects.

Stainless Steel a ferrous alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content. The name originates from the fact that stainless steel stains, or rusts, less easily than ordinary steel. Stainless steel has higher resistance to oxidation (rust) and corrosion in several environments.
